Celebrating Earth Day 2018

Today, April 22, is Earth Day. It’s the largest environmental movement in the world, and so important because we only get one planet, and it’s a good one. Today we celebrate Earth Day because this environment that we live, work, and play in is the result of such an amazing interaction among people, plants, animals, air, and water that it supports such a vibrant life. A part of our responsibility is to be caretakers of this environment so that it remains healthy for generations to come. That’s what this day is about, and that’s why it’s so important to us as arborists because we know how important it is to plant and care for trees, and the beneficial impact that they have on our lives in return.

These are some of the ways that you can get involved and have a positive impact on Earth Day.

Plant trees… and maybe a garden

Naturally, Earth day is a great day to plant new trees, and maybe even a garden. Even if you’re not into growing your own fruits and vegetables, adding some vegetation around the property just makes it a healthier environment, and can add great curb appeal. Some beautiful annual or perennial flowers can really spruce things up, and will serve as a reminder that you are a caretaker of this planet, just like everyone else.

Prune and trim trees and inspect for health issues

Make Earth Day an opportunity to investigate the health of the trees on your property. Routine pruning and trimming help maintain and increase the health of foliage of your trees and shrubs, and discovering potential problems before they become major hazards is best for the tree and keeps everyone safe. For any work up high in the canopy of the trees, or addressing tree trunk Health or disease, it’s best to leave it to professionals, so give us a call. We have the equipment and the experience to take care of it safely.

Teach your children

Each generation is responsible for being good stewards of the earth we’ve been provided. But each generation can only know how they are to care for the environment if the previous generation teaches about it, and about the consequences of not caring for it.

Get involved with the Earth Day Network

Earth day kicked off 48 years ago in 1970, and has had a huge global impact ever since. From participating in annual events, to learning about environmental issues, to contributing financially to the cause, there are many ways to collaborate with the Earth Day Networkto improve the condition of our environment.

Contribute to a reforestation initiative

The Earth Day Network is generating funds for a number of reforestation initiatives. Contributions (at a rate of $1 = 1 tree) can help repopulate deforested areas, address climate change, increase green space in urban areas, and add beauty plus health benefits to school campuses.

So take a moment this Earth Day and be grateful for the beauty, fresh air, oxygen, and habitats that trees continue to contribute to our environment. And by doing your part in recognizing this great environmental responsibility that we all share, together we’ll pass on a better earth to each generation.
